Open StreetMap Dude
So through a large turn of events too convoluted to even begin to describe, I am the Open StreetMap “Champion” for the Chattanooga Area. I actually think it extends out maybe a bit more than that – I consider it to be North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee. Essentially if you’re in the area and need help send me an email and I’ll do what I can to get you started. I spent today working with JOSM and Potlatch and found them both to have merit….and both to be exceptionally hard to use at times. I think I prefer JOSM since it most reminds me of editing in a GIS environment. It would be cool to do some of the editing from within Arcmap – or actually it would be alot faster for me to do the editing in Arcmap. But it was interesting nonetheless.
Anyway – I am hoping to have several mapping events in the area this fall. Cloudmade has offered support so it’s just a matter of me getting started. If you’re in the area and wish to help send me an email or leave a comment and we’ll get together and talk. Stay tuned for further developments.
